Inclusive, culturally grounded, community focused
Hiddo Center is the cultural heartbeat of marginalized communities in Canada. We bring people together to celebrate heritage, empower youth, and strengthen cultural identity through arts, storytelling, education, and community events. Through a commitment to inclusion, diversity, and community development, we support youth, women, and families in building stronger futures rooted in cultural pride, equity, and socio-economic opportunity.

What We Do
Together We Empower Generations
Comprehensive, culturally responsive services that address the critical needs of ethnic minorities and marginalized communities:
Seniors’ Support & Wellness Program
Weekly support gatherings for adults 60+, offering personal care guidance, gentle exercise classes, shopping assistance, social activities, and transportation to medical appointments. Free for all participants.
Youth Leadership Training
Short‑form leadership and cultural awareness training held once per year. Sessions delivered through a teacher‑student format with presentations and Q&A.
Scholarships & Bursaries
Annual financial awards supporting youth entering post‑secondary institutions. Selection by the board based on academic merit and financial need.
Youth Employment Readiness Program
Workshops covering job search strategies, networking, resume writing, interview preparation, and digital literacy. Held once per year over one week.
Community Health Screenings
Regular screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, flu vaccination and COVID‑19 testing. Conducted by qualified professionals. Free for all.
Poverty Relief Program
Annual distribution of non-perishable food and basic necessities to individuals and families in need. Supplies purchased wholesale and distributed through selected food banks.
Community Health Classes
Twice‑weekly free classes focused on physical and mental health, nutrition, and general wellness topics. Delivered in a teacher‑student format.
Annual Arts & Culture Event
Yearly public art event featuring cultural performances, Somali traditional music, poetry and presentations.
